How to Fix Your Google Permission Settings

Having trouble connecting an email account?

One key step in setting up your CTD account is to grant permission to access email metadata (and messages if you choose that setting).

Clicking on "Deny" while setting up your account changes your security settings so CTD cannot access information we need to successfully create, or link, a new account.

How can I confirm this is the case and fix the problem?

  1. Click on this link… Third-party apps with account access
  2. Click on "Connect The Dots"
  3. Click on "See details" in the section titled "Connect The Dots has some access to your Google Account"

Alternatively you can navigate to the Third-party apps page, following these steps.

  1. Login to your Gmail account, click on your profile picture, and click on "Manage your Google Account"
  2. From your "Google Account" page click on the "Data & privacy" link in the left hand navigation
  3. Scroll down the page and find a section called "Apps and services" and then open the sub-section “Third-party apps with account access”
  4. Click on "Connect The Dots"

If your permissions look like this, we’ve found the issue.

Click on the blue button to remove access. Then navigate to https://app.ctd.ai/ and login again. This time, make sure you click on the allow button.

To confirm we’ve got it fixed, it should look like this.

After resetting the account, and logging in again, you’ll be prompted again by Google to grant CTD permissions. When you hit accept it will update Google’s account access page to look like what you see below. Connect The Dots will immediately begin processing your account and send you an email confirmation when it is done and ready to view.
